Louis C. Reeves, 87, of Aledo, Ill., formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Brookstone in Aledo. Cremation has been accorded. A private immediate family memorial service will be at the Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Additional services will be in Waterloo at a later date. Memorials may be left to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Louis was born Dec. 22, 1926, in Salem, Ark., to Lewis and Olive Conrad Reeves. He attended the Dinsdale Schools, Traer. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He married Helen M. Johannsen Dec. 26, 1950, in Waterloo.

He was employed at the Waterloo Courier as a pressman and foreman, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Elks Club and the Byrnes Park Golf Club, where he became an avid golfer. He enjoyed fast-pitch softball and bowling.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Moline, Ill.; twins, Brenda (Mike) Mack of Sherrard, Ill., and Brad (Lori) Reeves of Benton Harbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Jason (Nelly) Reeves of Franklin, Tenn., and Jessie (Jon) Gilmore of Grand Prairie, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Josie Rose Gilmore; four sisters, Georgia Eibey and Jean (Leonard) Randall, all of Waterloo, and Pearl McKinley and Rosie Swanson, both of Traer; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, six sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
