WATERLOO - Allan J. Johnson, 65, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 18, 1949, in Mason City, son of Kenneth J. and Ardith Wildes Johnson.

AJ attended West High School, and served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked as a union ceramic tile layer in Waterloo for 27 years.

Survived by his companion, Cynthia "Cindy" Humbert of Waterloo; a son, Joe (Jen) Harken of Cedar Falls; a stepdaughter, Angie (John) Smock of Waterloo; two stepsons, Chris (Brenda) Siemens of San Diego and Danny Siemens, of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; his mother, Ardith Johnson of Reinbeck; and two brothers, Jim (Jane) Johnson and Mike Johnson, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, with military rites by U.S. Marine Corps Honors Detail, Evansdale AMVETS Post No. 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post No. 19. The family will greet friends for an hour before services at the funeral home.
