WATERLOO - Donald Eugene Troutwine, 82, of Waterloo, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Boone, son of Canada and Hannah Troutwine. On Jan. 3, 1948, he married Annabelle Covey. She died in 1982. He then married Donna McCarty in 1984.

Mr. Troutwine served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II on the islands of Iwo Jima, Saipan and Guam. Before retirement, he owned and operated D&A Auto repair.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Donna (Ron) Winegard of Denver; two stepdaughters, Lois (Dick) Hein of Dysart and Rhonda (Joe) Rivoire of Marion; three stepsons, Ross (Greta) McCarty of Johnston and Ronald and Chad McCarty, both of La Porte City; and a brother, Frank of Colona, Ill.

Preceded in death by eight brothers, Roy, Ray, Harley, Howard, William, Lawrence, Alonzo and James; a sister, Phylis Bass; a stepdaughter, Janice Troutwine; and a stepson, Jed McCarty.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home, where coffee and rolls will be served.
