LA PORTE CITY - Ronald Ned “Ron” Bader, 63, of La Porte City, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of colon cancer.

He was born Sept. 12, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Ned and Dolores Olson Bader. He married Barbara J. Campbell on Nov. 7, 1987, in Council Bluffs.

Ron graduated from La Porte City High School in 1968 and attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He worked for Control-O-Fax, Versatile Farm Equipment and Case IH prior to farming. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church and the La Porte City Lions Club.

Survived by his wife; a son, Bo Bader of la Porte City; a daughter, Breann Bader of La Porte City; his mother, of La Porte City; and a brother, David (Janan) of Las Vegas.

Preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Chris.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at American Lutheran Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and an hour before services Wednesday, all at the church. La Porte City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the American Lutheran Church or to the family for a memorial fund to be established.

Ron was an avid sports fan. He had a huge heart and will be greatly missed. He fought and never gave up. The family would like to say thank you for all the love and support.
