Robert W. “Bob” Klingaman, 88, of Waterloo died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center.

Mr. Klingaman was born April 18, 1916 in Orange Township, Iowa the son of William W. and Mary Ellen (Miller) Klingaman.

He graduated from Orange High School in 1934. He attended Iowa State University. Mr. Klingaman married Agnes M. Myers February 8, 1939 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She died October 4, 1973.

Mr. Klingaman worked as a civilian employee of the Army Corps of Engineers on the ALCAN Highway in Prince Rupert, Canada prior to his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific Theater and participated in the occupation of Sasebo, Japan from September 26, 1945 to November 2, 1945. He later worked as a salesman for Cargill, Inc before retiring in 1970.

Survived by a son Robert W. (Patricia) Klingaman Jr., of Fort Collins, CO; a daughter Mary (Stephen) Deardorff of Lenexa, KS; a daughter Linda Sandoval of Waterloo; a daughter Susan (Larry) Jensen of Dysart; a son John Klingaman of Waterloo; and a son Michael (Marjorie) Klingaman of Tulsa, OK. He is also survived by 14 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, his beloved companion Azella Smith of Waterloo and a sister Marlene Sheronick of Hudson.

Preceded in death by 5 brothers: Carl, Guy, Harold, Charles, and Verl; a sister Doris Bush; a daughter Carol Ann Mokosak, a grandson Chad Sandoval, and son in law Michael Sandoval.
