WATERLOO - William Donald Commack, 85, of Surprise, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014.

He was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Waterloo, son of William and Eliza Commack. In 1950 he married Violet E. Wilder; she preceded him in death. He later married Ellen K. Farling.

Bill earned a master's degree from the University of Iowa and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After moving to southern California he worked 30 years for Los Angeles County as a probation officer, retiring in 1987.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Donna E. (Thomas) Faucett and Stephanie Commack, both of Las Vegas; a son, Terry L. (Darlene) of Panorama City, Calif.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sammy of Muskegon, Mich., and James (Delores ) of Waterloo; and three sisters, Ruccell (Elbert) Pearson and Josephine (JL) Vivians, both of Waterloo, and Mardena Banks of Muskegon.

Preceded in death by a son, Gary W.; and a brother, Paul.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
