EVANSDALE - Allen Joseph Ritter, 65, of Evansdale, died at home Friday, Aug. 22, 2014.

He was born April 9, 1949, in Oelwein, son of Laverne Carl “Bud” and Margaret Frances Hennick Ritter. He married Kathleen Louise Smith in Cedar Falls; she preceded him in death.

Allen graduated from Oelwein High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Survived by a son, Patrick (Chandra) of West Union; two grandchildren; and two brothers, James (Judy) of Cedar Falls and William (Carol) of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Linda Ritter.

Celebration of Life service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the home of John and Lennora Steinbronn, 16271 50th St., Oelwein. There will be no visitation. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, is assisting the family with arrangements.
