WATERLOO - Robert "Terry" Brietske, 73, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born July 10, 1933, in Mason City, son of William T. and Urah Weller Brietske. He married Gayle Hoyle on March 29, 1953, in Siloam Springs, Ark.

Mr. Brietske graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1951, attended John Brown University in Siloam Springs and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He worked for 28 years at Chamberlain Manufacturing as a supervisor in maintenance, retiring in 1993. He also had worked as a transmitter operator for radio stations, and with Things Remembered at Crossroads and College Square. He was an Eagle Scout as a boy, Scoutmaster of Troop 116, a member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church, Amateur Radio Club, and a member of the Republican Central Committee.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jean Poyner of Waterloo, Trina Brietske of Des Moines and Brenda (Tim) Hemming of St. Cloud, Minn.; two sons, Paul (Nanci) of Cedar Falls and Daniel (Theresa) of Burleson, Texas; 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Brietske, Blairsville, Ga.; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Phillips of Blairsville.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edwin; and a sister, Judith Phillips.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice, or Cedar Valley Dialysis Center.
