EVANSDALE - Larry Clarence Baker, 73, of Evansdale, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo, from a lengthy illness with cancer.

He was born May 2, 1941, in Waterloo, son of Earl and Patty Kearney Baker. He married Carol Ann Moyer, and they later divorced. He then married Barbara Ann Baldwin, and they later divorced.

Larry graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1959. He worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring as an index inspector after 30 years of service.

Survived by his significant other, Mary Aten of Evansdale; a son, Harry (Amie) Whiteside of Fairbank; a daughter, Cyndie (Barry) Stephens of The Colony, Texas; a stepson, Walter Aten of Evansdale; a grandson, Scott R. Hill; a brother, Stephen of Mason City; a nephew, Ryan David Baker of Mason City; and a niece, Nicole Faye Baker of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Tracy Ann Baker.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, where visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and with burial in Garden of Memories, both in Waterloo.

Memorials: may be directed to the Iowa SIDS Foundation or the American Cancer Society

Larry raised and trained German Short Hair Pointers. He owned a dog who was the first in Iowa field trial and show companion. His passions were bicycles, cars and motorcycles. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
