RAYMOND - Hans E. Sorensen, 85, of Raymond, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 29, 1921, near Fredsville in Grundy County, son of Soren Peter and Dorethea Anna Nielsen Sorensen. On May 2, 1946, he married Kathleen Marie Ortner at St. Francis Catholic Church-Barclay, rural Dunkerton. She died Sept. 22, 2000.

Mr. Sorensen served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked 36 years for Iowa Public Service (now MidAmerican Energy) in Waterloo as a gas service man.

Survivors include three sons, Michael (Ryan Marco) of Minneapolis, Steven (Ann Johnson) of Cedar Falls and Mark (Shari) of Dunkerton; three daughters, Jeanne (Dan) Cotton of Dike, Carol (Dwight) Tisue of Dunkerton and Teresa (Dennis) McGee of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gordon of Tucson, Ariz.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Kay Sorensen; and two brothers, Raymond and Norman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Raymond, with burial in the church cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714 of Gilbertville. Public visitation after 2 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 3 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Raymond, and to Cedar Valley Hospice, Waterloo.
