WATERLOO - Richard J. Hocken, 77, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born June 1, 1929, in Waterloo, son of Roy and Laura Bennett Hocken. He married Helen Pfaltzgraff on Sept. 10, 1950, in Waterloo. She died in 1975. Peggy Guynn is his wife in common law.

Mr. Hocken was employed at Chamberlain Manufacturing as an inspector for 45 years, retiring in 1992. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Randall of Waterloo; a daughter, Vicki (Joel) Hanson of Hudson; a stepdaughter, Kim Bedard of Charles City; two sisters, Betty Rausch of Mesa, Ariz., and Shirley Hocken of Waterloo; four grandchildren, three stepgranddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by an infant brother; and a sister, Ruth.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by Becker Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623.
