WATERLOO - Valerie K. Heiberger, 62, of Waterloo, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital from complications of breast cancer.

She was born Nov. 9, 1951, daughter of Dean and Marjorie (Uren) Winter. She married Randy Heiberger on May 20, 1972, at Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo.

Valerie graduated from East High School in the Class of 1969. She worked at Walkers Shoe Store, GMAC and for the city of Waterloo in the Community Development Office. She was a long-time member of Grace Reformed Church where she was active in the church choir. She also was a member of the Prairie Rose Chapter of the EGA and the Blackhawk Gem and Mineral Society. Valerie was a cast member for the play “Brigadoon” with the Waterloo Community Playhouse.

Survived by her husband of Waterloo; five sisters, Jackie (Alwyn) Beatty of Westgate, Karen Edmondson and Connie Winter, both of Waterloo, Michelle (Daniel) Friedman of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and Deana Winter; her father-in-law, Howard Heiberger of Cedar Falls; a sister-in-law, Maureen (Brent) Hasting of Cedar Falls; six nephews; two nieces; and nine great-nephews and great-nieces.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, Waterloo, and also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
