WATERLOO - Jacqueline L. "Jackie" Newsome, 62, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 23, 1945, in Waterloo, daughter of Charles Chester and Iota Hoag Hayes. She married Orville J. Newsome on Aug. 11, 1966, in Hudson.

Mrs. Newsome worked for several businesses, including Sibert's Laundry, Varsity Cleaners and the Home Shopping Network.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Melissa Mims of Cedar Falls; a son, James of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Marcus Mims, Jason Newsome, Amy Newsome, John Newsome and Justin James Newsome; two sisters, Genia Springer of Reinbeck and Judy Hopka of Waterloo; and a brother, Dale Hayes of Coralville.

Preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Justin James Mims; and a son-in-law, John L. Mims.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the chapel.
