WATERLOO - Marcellin Leonard "Marce" Kacher, 91, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

He was born April 20, 1923, in Lawler, son of James and Christina Tupy Kacher. He married Hazel P. Vorwald on Nov. 20, 1944, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Hampton.

Marce was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 25 years before going on to work in the foundry department at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works until his retirement.

Survived by his wife; a son, Jim (Diana) of Waterloo; a daughter, Marilyn (George) Beenken of Gilbertville; five grandchildren, Derrick Kacher, Dawn Hagen, Laura Hart, Mike Beenken and Chuck Kacher; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a brother-in-law, Larry Peters of Rockford, Ill.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lucille Peters.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 4 p.m. rosary.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Marce and his wife celebrated almost 70 years of marriage. He enjoyed camping, fishing and going to auctions and garage sales into his 90s. He was very proud of his family and always had a smile on his face.
