MRS. CATHERINE LIES.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Mrs. Catherine Lies, 81, of 901 Mulberry St., who died of carcinoma at St. Francis Hospital at 11:35 p. m. Sunday. The Rev. Fr. John Peters will officiate. Burial will be at Gilbertville. Mrs. Lies had been a patient at the hospital for the past seven weeks and had been in poor health for several months.

She was born Dec. 14, 1872, at Gilbertville, the daughter of Nicholas and Julia Robert. She was married to Peter Lies Aug. 5, 1890. He preceded her in death in 1945.

She had been a resident of Waterloo for 32 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and of the Rosary Society.

Surviving are three sons, Frank and Laurence, at home; and Harry, 421 Cherry St.; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Robeson, 1115 Mulberry St.; two brothers, John Robert, 1252 Logan Ave., and Peter Robert, Dunkerton; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Pint, 409 E. 2nd St., Mrs. Elizabeth Hess, 217 W. 2nd St., Mrs. Julia Bloes, 1021 Lafayette St., and Mrs. Mathilda Ehr, Jesup; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rosary Society of St. Joseph's will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home.
