WATERLOO - Diana "Dee" Peterson, 60, of Grand Marais, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth, Minn., of pancreatic cancer.

She was born Nov. 22, 1947, in Waterloo, daughter of Harold and Mildred Visser Slawson. She married Jerry Peterson on June 22, 1971.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1966. She and her husband started Eliminator Refuse Co. in 1970 and operated it until moving to Grand Marais in 1999. For several years, she worked at Bearskin Lodge as the front desk manager.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Stacey (Jes) Cisneros of East Dundee, Ill., and Sara (Tim) Groen of North Branch, Minn.; two grandchildren; her mother, Mildred Slawson of Cedar Falls; a brother, Kelly (Cathy) Slawson of Minneapolis; and a sister, Jane (Chris) Stout of Ankeny.

Preceded in death by her father; and a brother, John.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Grand Marais, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cavallin Funeral Home, Grand Marais, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
