LA PORTE CITY, IOWA - Matthew Jay Coulson, 31, of Poolesville, Maryland, formerly of La Porte City, died Monday, September 25, 2006, as the result of a vehicle accident.

He was born April 11, 1975, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Larry Jay and E. Moana Coulson. He married Monika Kadi on May 3, 1997, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Washington, D.C., temple.

He graduated from Union High School, La Porte City, in 1993, and attended Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, majoring in linguistics and minoring in computer science. He worked at the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Besmir; his parents of La Porte City; a brother, Dan of Sturgis, Michigan; two sisters, Larana Sales of Spanish Fork, Utah, and Rebecca "Becky" Pinheiro of Randolph, Mass.; and paternal grandmother, Virginia Coulson of Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard and Rita Stone; and paternal grandfather, Ira Coulson.

Services were at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Germantown, Maryland. Burial will take place in Thornton, Colorado.
