BUCKINGHAM - Gary Lee Vaughn, 61, of Buckingham, formerly of La Porte City, died at home Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005.

He was born Nov. 1, 1943, in Mason City, son of Chester Merle and Tillie Vierkant Vaughn. He married Sharon Mary North in 1964, and they later divorced. He then married Judy Elaine Stephens on March 9, 1973, in La Porte City.

Mr. Vaughn graduated from La Porte City High School in 1962. He farmed in Tama County and had worked at John Deere for 12 years from 1967 to 1979. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Raymond (June) Vaughn of Dysart, Brent (Jean) Vaughn of Texas, Randy (Tina) Vaughn of Marion and Kevin (MiYong) Yarrington of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters, Deborah (Richard) Aikens of Washington, D.C., LeAnn (Pedro) Aguirre of Chicago and Nicole Cortapossi of Texas; 17 grandchildren, Leaf and Knoll Aikens, Jonathon and Christian Aguirre, Amanda, Alicia, Rachael and Heather Vaughn, Angela, Felicia and Sophia Cortapossi, Valerie Vaughn, Brenna and Darrin, Brandon Schueider, Eric and Taylor Bistline; his father of La Porte City; and a brother, Roger (Janice) of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by his mother; stepmother, Wilma Vaughn; and an infant sister.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Geneseo United Methodist Church, 3127 115th St., Buckingham, with burial in Geneseo Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Marshalltown Veterans Home.
