WATERLOO - Duane "Bud" Headington, 77, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, June 4, 2008, of natural causes.

He was born April 8, 1931, in Decorah, son of Glen and Anna Grindeland Headington. She married LaVonne "Bonnie" McKernan on Nov. 10, 1952, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Decorah.

Mr. Headington owned and operated Headington Construction, Hudson. He served in the U.S. Army and was a former member of the Hudson School Board.

Survived by his wife; two sons, David (Kelli) of Waterloo and Darin (Brenda) of Hudson; two daughters, Deborah Headington of Des Moines and Diane Neebel of Hudson; 10 grandchildren, Justin McLarnan, Lee McLarnan, Tige Headington, Michael Headington, Scott Headington, Lyndsey Headington, Alex Headington, Jordan Headington, Julia Headington and Emily Headington; five great-grandchildren, Bryce Chappell, Bailey Headington, Grace Headington, Kylee McLarnan and Teddy McLarnan; and three brothers, William and Dale, both of Decorah, and Robert of West Union.

Preceded in death by a son-in-law, Roger C. Neebel.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 6:30 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
