WATERLOO - Margaret Knief, 87, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 28, at Rose Medical Center, Denver, of natural causes.

She was born June 12, 1920, in Black Hawk County, daughter of William J. and Lydia C. Rohrssen Heidemann. She married Orval E. Knief on Aug. 14, 1938, in Waterloo. He died March 8, 1995.

Mrs. Knief moved to Denver in 1958. While living in Waterloo, she worked at Rath Packing Co. and Black's Department Store. She also worked as a secretary for the Chase Mortuary, Denver, and was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Emphysema Anonymous Group, both in Denver.

Survived by two daughters, Patricia Ricketts of Parkersburg, Pa., and Cheryl (Gene) Boevers of Denver, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Sommerfelt; and a brother, Reuben Heidemann.

Private gamily graveside services: Friday at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will greet friends at 3 p.m. Friday at the home of Cheryl Boevers, 2756 Larrabee Ave., Denver, Iowa. Garden View Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E. Hampden Ave., Cherry Hills Village, CO 80113.
