WATERLOO - Jack G. Miller, 75, of Anchorage, Alaska, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at his home of congestive heart failure.

He was born Nov. 28, 1929, in Waterloo, son of John G. Miller and Ann Decker Miller. He married Darlene Cady on Dec. 2, 1950, at First United Methodist Church, Waterloo.

He graduated from West High School in 1948 and attended college at Iowa State University, Ames, and Grinnell College, Grinnell. In 1951, he played for the Waterloo Wildcats football team. He moved to Alaska in March 1969, and he served in the Territorial Guard in Alaska for a year.

Mr. Miller worked for John G. Miller Construction in Waterloo and also worked construction in many towns including Fairbanks, Adak, Katzebu, the NorthSlope and various villages in Alaska. He retired in 1997.

He also coached youth hockey and football and enjoyed his family and traveling, as well as hockey, football and flying his plane.

Survived by his wife, Darlene Cady Miller; a son, Timothy Miller of Anchorage; two daughters, Kathryn Gross of Oregon and Roseann (Jay) Zinn of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Angie Zinn, Aaron Zinn, Amy (Will) Akin and Kristie (Bob) Bash; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail Akin and Michaela Zinn.

Preceded in death by his parents, John G. Miller and Ann Decker Miller; and a son, Michael Alan Miller.

Private family lakeside services: took place. His ashes were scattered on Big Lake, adjoining his parents.

Memorials may be directed to hospice.

Our dad was interested in people his whole life and invested in many lives. He loved hockey and football as well as flying. He will be missed.
