WATERLOO - Neal Lee Seemann, 66, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

He was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Waterloo, son of Ernest J. and Esther Vice Seemann. He married Nancy Kincaid in Waterloo, and they later divorced. He married Sandra Fankhauser in September 1985 in Waterloo.

Neal served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and and worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Following his retirement he was owner/operator of Basic Auto in Waterloo.

Survived by his wife; a son, Troy (Amy) of Waterloo; a daughter, Heather (Josh Owings) Seemann of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Melissa Sells, Brittney Sells, and Mercedes and Holly Seemann; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Mills and Justin Payne Jr.; a sister, Jeanette (Rich) Dunsmore of Wisconsin, a nephew, Norman Seemann of Florida; and a niece, Cinnamon (Tom) Willett of Illinois.

Preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Norman and Marion “Ernie.”

Family-directed memorial gathering: 2 p.m. Sunday at Basic Auto, 2230 Independence Ave. Military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel assisted with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
