EVANSDALE - Larry Thomas "Mustang" Seery, 72, of Evansdale, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo, following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 20, 1941, in New Hampton, son of Kenneth Joseph and Maxine Ardis O’Day Seery. On June 25, 1966, he married Linda Kay Johnson in Minneapolis.

Mustang graduated from New Hampton High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a retired machinist from John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works and was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 38 years.

Survived by his wife; a son, Lucas of Evansdale; two daughters, Lisa (Mark) Anderson of Waterloo and Laura Bartelme of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Andru Seery, Ben and Nick Anderson, Justin and Joel Bergen, and Jenna and Jaimie Bartelme; a brother, Kenneth (Connie) of Frederika; three sisters, Carol McKenzie of Prescott, Ariz., Linda (Gene) Miller of Villa Rica, Ga., and Kathy Butler of New Hampton; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Virginia Seery; a brother-in-law, Gary Johnson; and his father-in-law, Obert Johnson.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, Waterloo, with private family inurnment at a later date. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m today at the chapel.
