CEDAR FALLS - Leslie August Streittmatter, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born April 8, 1941, in Waterloo, son of Nathan and Esther Erdmann Renz Streittmatter.

Leslie graduated from Waterloo East High School and earned a degree from Hawkeye Community College as an industrial service technician. He worked most of his life as a wood machinist, with 31 years at Waterloo Wood Bearing Co., six years at Omega Cabinet Co., and 3 1/2 years at Pries Aluminum Co. He also worked other various employment opportunities.

Survived by a sister, Thea Joy Streittmatter; two nieces, Patricia Crow and Linda (Gene) Tripp; a nephew, Robert (Karen) Renz; and a sister-in-law, Julie Renz.

Preceded in death by his parents; and two half brothers, Willis and Loren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church-ESL, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Leslie liked to read and do home projects, many left undone.
