Dr. Clarence John "Lud" Ludwig Feb. 3, 1925 - June 17, 2014

Dr. Clarence John "Lud" Ludwig, 89 years old, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2014, at The Glendridge on Palmer Ranch, Sarasota, Fla.

Dearest husband and best friend of Mary Lou (nee Wadsworth) for 62 years. Loving dad of Linda (John) Macaskill, Mike (Theresa), Bill (Sandy) and Susie (Randy) Schwartz; and proud grandfather of Melissa and Justin Macaskill, Adrienne, Alec and Cameron Ludwig, Lisa and Becca Ludwig, and Randy (Jenn), Anthony, Kristina (Chris Hinz), Trent and Makenzie Schwartz. He is also survived by his brother, Herb, of Waterloo.

After his Naval service in World War II on the LST 1011, he graduated from Creighton University Medical School in 1951; was a Radiology Fellow at the Mayo Clinic from 1952-55; and a radiologist in Waterloo from 1955 to 1987. "Lud" held many medical leadership positions including the Head of Radiology and Chief of Staff at Schoitz Memorial Hospital. Proud supporter of Creighton University.

Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. today, June 20, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Sarasota. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Creighton University, Attn: Robert Skrydlak, 2500 California Plaza, Omaha, NE 68178.
