CEDAR FALLS - Rex Edwin DeLavergne, 87, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 30, 1927, in Charles City, son of Ward H. and Ruby Hill DeLavergne. He married Norma Oberheu on June 6, 1948, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waverly.

Rex served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a purchasing agent for Rath Packing Co., Waterloo, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, where he was past president of the congregation. He also served as an executive director of Christian Crusaders.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Sandra (Perry) Schroeder of Garner and Sharon (Gene) Drachenberg of Dike; a son, John (Rose) of Boone; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Christian Crusaders, Nazareth Lutheran Church, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
