The body of Joseph R. Dally, 55, of 229 Cornwall Avenue, who died at 9:25 p. m Saturday in Veterans' hospital at Knoxville, Ia., after an illness of three years, was expected to arrive by rail in Waterloo Monday where it would be taken to the Ray Hurley Funeral Home.

Born Dec 24, 1888, at Wolbach, Neb., the son of Joseph and Ella Place Dally; he married Irene Hannasch in July, 1922, at Carroll, Ia., and the couple had resided in
Waterloo for the past 15 years.

He enlisted for World War 1 infantry service, in June, 1917, at Carroll, and served overseas for 11 months. He was honorably discharged in August, 1919, and was
a member of the American Legion and Sacred Heart Church. He had been a patient at the Veterans' hospital since Oct. 1 of this year.

Survivors include the widow; one son, Charles, a navy seaman second class, stationed at Norman, Okla.; three other children, Margaret, Dick and Tom, all at home; one brother, Albert, Benkelman, Neb.; and five sisters: Mrs. G. W. Padgett of Blue Rapids, Kan., Mrs. Ada Weeks of Hutchinson, Kan., Mrs. Dennis Downey of St. Joseph, Mo., Mrs. Frank Ross of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Dan Myers of Saskatchewan, Canada.
