WATERLOO - Diana Lynn Niedert, 63, of Waterloo, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

She was born Aug. 15, 1950, in Waterloo, daughter of Fred and Leona McBride Niedert. She married William J. Hackett, and they later divorced.

Diana graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1968 and had served in the U.S. Army.

Survived by a daughter, Kerri (Matt) Hackett of Waterloo; two grandsons, Justin and Brandin Austin; three brothers, Larry (Sydney) McBride of Waterloo, Ted “Lee” Niedert of Denver and Lonnie (Pam) Niedert of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Pat Niedert of Waterloo; 26 nieces and nephews; 37 great-nieces and -nephews; and 13 great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward Niedert; and three nephews, Chris Niedert, Chad Nelson and David Niedert.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Diana devoted her life to her family and friends.
