WATERLOO - Patricia Ann Heidt Scoles, 73, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Friendship Village Pavilion.

She was born May 21, 1941, in Waterloo, daughter of Armour Paul and Marguerite Virginia McMullen Heidt. She married Dr. Donald “Gordy” Scoles on Nov. 6, 1980.

Pat graduated from Waverly High School in 1959, received her bachelor’s degree from Clarke College in 1963 and her master’s degree from the University of Southern California in 1971. She taught at St. Edward Catholic School from 1963-1965; Department of Defense Schools from 1966-1978 in Okinawa and Germany; St. Patrick’s School in Cedar Falls from 1984-1986; Marlboro County School District in South Carolina from 1986-1994; and Sacred Heart Catholic School in Boone from 1994-1997. She returned to Marlboro County School District in 1997 and retired as a teacher in 2004. She continued as the director of induction and mentoring for the school district of Marlboro County until 2011. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, St. Andrews Book Club and Read-A-Book Club.

Survived by her husband; three daughters, Kristin Uribe of Pearland, Texas, Molly (Jason) Cooper of Norwalk and Therese Scoles of Bennettsville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Juan, Michael, Gabriel and Anna Uribe, and Alex Cooper; and a brother, Michael (Charlene) Heidt of Marshallville, Ga.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Daniel Heidt.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with a 7 p.m vigil service.

Pat enjoyed reading and traveling. During her travels she visited over 30 countries.
