CEDAR FALLS - Patrick Joseph Rea, 56, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waukon, died at home Friday, May 23, 2014.

He was born Dec. 22, 1957, in Waukon, son of James Raphael and Joyce Huffman Rea.

Patrick graduated from Waukon schools in 1976, attended Iowa State University for a year, then served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy Reserves. He spent 26 years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Waukon before moving to Cedar Falls after his retirement.

Survived by four children, Paul (Kari) Rea of Cedar Falls, Kara (Todd) Plagman of Carson, Shannon Rea of Manhattan, Kan., and Sean Rea of Des Moines; three grandchildren; his mother of Waukon; two brothers, James (Judy) of Lake Mills and Rick (Lori) of Decorah; and five sisters, Pam (Robert) Winters of Waukon, Mary (Ken) Hansen of Wyoming, Iowa, Carol (Dave) Hanson and Carla (Danny) Leidahl, both of Decorah, and Laurie (Eric) Kreul of West Union.

Preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Robert.

Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. today at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon, followed by a memorial service.
