Henry J. Van Lengen, 96, of Cedar Falls, formerly of New Hartford, died Wednesdsay, Sept. 14, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

He was born July 29, 1909, in Aplington, son of John and Dena Conraads Van Lengen. On March 17, 1932, he married Maggie Perton. She died Jan. 10, 1973. He then married Alice M. Ravn on Jan. 8, 1979, in Cedar Falls. She died April 4, 1993.

Mr. Van Lengen farmed in rural Waterloo, between Waterloo and Cedar Falls, for more than 50 years, retiring in 1970.

Survivors include: a daughter, Dena (Robert) Wray of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; a brother, John of Janesville; and three sisters, Jennie Folkers of Cedar Falls, Hannah Hartgrave of Austin, Minn., and Grace (Paul) Knapp of Shell Rock.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Dorothy (Luchtenburg) Ridder and Fannie Kroeze; and four brothers, Albert, Ben, George and Paul.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established.
