The Rev. Lowell D. Stoesz, 81, of Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, went to be with the Lord he served for more than 50 years on Sept. 12, 2005.

Lowell enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the Pacific theater, as well as India and Burma. Following World War II, Lowell married Alice Stevens on June 10, 1949, in Minneapolis. A graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary, the Rev. Stoesz pastored churches in Kentucky, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. He also was instrumental in the founding of Friendship Village in Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Stoesz; and daughter, Susan Fowlkes.
The Rev. Stoesz is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice; three daughters, Sharon (Gary) Dagsgard, Sheila (Kirk) Stufflebeam and Sandra (Richard) Jamieson; and 10 grandchildren.

The Rev. Stoesz was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor and Evangelist who will live forever in the hearts of his family and in the hearts of many to whom he ministered.

Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday at Kingswood Church, 1264 109th Ave. N.E., Blaine, Minn., with the family greeting friends for an hour before services in the church. Private family interment Friday at Fort Snelling. Memorials preferred to Kingswood Church or Gideons International.
