WASHBURN - David Charles Glenny, 75, of Washburn, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Newton, son of Walter Henry and Anna Mae Schlitter Glenny. He married Joyce Walther on Nov. 18, 1955, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Mr. Glenny was a 1948 graduate of Waterloo West High School, where he was a state wrestling champion, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, where he was a welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and his cabin in Wisconsin, which he and his friends built.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, William (Denise) of Washburn, Leo of Morengo and Walter of Washburn; two daughters, Diana Berry of Cedar Falls and Debra (Craig) Hoppe of Gilbertville; a granddaughter, Michelle Kesterson of Waterloo; a grandson, Kyle Hoppe of Gilbertville; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Shefchik of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Washburn, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veteran of Foreign Wars Waterloo Post 1623. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday a Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
