WATERLOO - Mildred A. Byam, 98, of Friend?ship Village, died there Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005.

She was born Aug. 1, 1907, in Elberon, daughter of Joe and Emma Sucky Pokorney. She married Glenn Byam in St. Paul, Minn. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Byam and her husband owned and operated Byams Store, La Porte City, for 35 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Mae (Daryl) Thomsen of Waterloo; and a niece, Karen (Bob) Moubry of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Olga Kelly.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Friendship Village chapel, Waterloo, with inurnment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Friends may call for an hour before services Wednesday at the chapel. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
