Herbert E. Kreb, 64, of Waterloo, formerly of the Oran area, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Waverly, son of Emil Carl and Elsie Helena Olson Kreb. He married Nancy Hildebrandt on April 24, 1972, at St. Peters Lutheran Church-Richfield, Sumner.

Mr. Kreb had been a lifelong farmer in the Oran area, retiring in 2004, and was currently employed at Wal-Mart Super Center, Waterloo. He had served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Germany as a helicopter mechanic.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kimberly (Calvin Jr.) Sayers of Waterloo, Sara Kreb of Cedar Falls and Jody Kreb at home; two grandsons; his mother of Cedar Falls; and three brothers, Charles (Rosemary) of Jamestown, N.D., Reuben of Nashua and Melvin (Holly) of Scotia, Calif.

Preceded in death by his father.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Oran, with burial in St. Peters Cemetery, near Oran. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
