HUDSON - Gerald A. "Gerry" Stevens, 81, of Monticello, Ind., formerly of Hudson, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette, Ind.

He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Indianapolis, son of Robert and May Quilleon Stevens. On June 13, 1953, he married Lyndell L. "Linda" Locke in Portsmith, Ohio; she died April 5, 2013.

A U.S. Army veteran, Gerry graduated from Warren Central High School, Indianapolis; graduated from the University of Indianapolis with degrees in English and business; and graduated from Christian Theological Seminary. He served as pastor at Chalmers Community Church, Chalmers, Ind., from 1960 to 1968; served as pastor of Community Church of Hudson for 27 years from 1968 to 1995; and then served in several churches within White and Carroll counties in Indiana, preaching his last sermon in 2012 at Rockfield Presbyterian Church, Rockford, Ind. He was past president of the White County Council for Special Needs Children.

Survived by a daughter, Bettina "Tina” (Greg) Weller of DeWitt; a son, Warren "Rusty" (Brenda) of Goshen, Ind.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hirth; and a brother, Robert.

Celebration of Life service: 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Delphi, Ind., with inurnment in Orchard Park Cemetery, Wanamaker, Ind. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
