WATERLOO - Ann Catherine Riedel, 65, of Waterloo, died at home Thursday, May 1, 2014 of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 29, 1948, in Waterloo, daughter of Vincent and Margaret Riedel. She married Steve Forsythe on April 4, 1986, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Ann worked as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital (now Covenant Medical Center) for 38 years, mostly in the pediatrics department, retiring in 2009. She graduated from Hawkeye Community College with an ADN in 1998. She was a member at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Survived by her husband; a son, John (Wanda) Forsythe of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Alexis Forsythe of Cedar Rapids; and her furry friend, Vinnie.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2410 Melrose Drive, followed by a time of sharing. A light lunch will be provided.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be directed to the family.

Ann loved her job as a nurse at Covenant Medical Center, and spent many years tending to Waterloo’s sick and injured children. Her dedication and care was obvious to all who needed her assistance.
