Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Hines, 73, of New Hartford, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

She was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Deck Johnson. On Sept. 20, 1946, she married Donald Ray Hines in Maynard.

Mrs. Hines attended school in Arlington. She cooked at Blacks Tea Room, Waterloo, and at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, where she was promoted to kitchen manager in 1967. She and her husband owned the Home Cafe in New Hartford from 1973 to 1977, then she became an Avon representative.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim (Patty) of rural Waterloo and Don (Linda) of New Hartford; a daughter, Betty Jo (Keith) Ferch of Charles City; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Harbaugh of Strawberry Point.

Preceded in death by a stepbrother, Russell Brown; and a son, Tony.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, New Hartford, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is in charge of arrangements.
