WATERLOO - Dorothy Marie Rasmussen Cohea, 91, of Waterloo, died of a stroke Monday, May 13, 2014, while visiting in Tallahassee, Fla.

She was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Waterloo, daughter of Nels and Marie Christensen Rasmussen. She married Norman Cohea on Jan. 17, 1943, and he preceded her in death.

Dorothy worked for the Waterloo Community School District, retiring in 1987 after serving as the truant officer. She spent two years in the Philippines in the Peace Corps.

Survived by four sons, Craig and Matthew (Kathy), both of Cedar Falls, Christopher (Jan) of St. Charles Mich., and Jonathan (Donna) of Tallahassee; four daughters, Kathleen Harper of Cedar Falls, Rebecca Lane of Andersen, Ind., Kimberly (Dan) Isbell of Vinton and Carolyn Champion of Tallahassee; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; four brothers; and a son, Timothy.

Celebration of Life services: 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2211 Maynard Ave., Waterloo, with inurnment at a later date.
