WATERLOO - Wayne D. Straw, 70, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 2, 1943, in Independence, son of Ralph and Arlene Peak Straw.

A U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, Wayne worked at Country View Care Center, retiring in 2007.

Survived by special friend, Ethel Johnson of Waterloo; a son, Daniel Brown of Waterloo; a daughter, Denise Sears of Cedar Falls; a brother, Dale of Waterloo; a sister, Rene Duneman of California; two half brothers, Darrell Straw of Marion and Benjamin Straw of Independence; and several stepbrothers.

Preceded in death by a stepsister.

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military rites by Iowa National Guard Funeral Honors Detail, VFW Post 1623 and American Legion Post 138. Garden View Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
