CEDAR FALLS - Loraine M. Ericksen Ames, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, April 19, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

She was born July 24, 1920, in Butler County, daughter of Jim and Mary Miller Jacobsen. She married Glen L. Ericksen Dec. 11, 1942, at Fredsville Lutheran Church, rural Cedar Falls. He died May 28, 1970. She married Sylvan R. Ames Feb. 6, 1971, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Aug. 21, 1999.

She was a graduate of Dike High School and Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). She taught country school and farmed with her husband, and also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir at Fredsville Lutheran Church. Loraine was a member of Fredsville Lutheran Church and a Friend of Salem Church, Lincoln, Iowa. She was also a member of Living Branches Service Organization and the Mobile Nobles. Loraine and Sylvan wintered in Mission, Texas, where they loved to play golf.

Survived by a stepdaughter, Sally Stoehr of Gladbrook; three stepgrandchildren, Jeff Stoehr of Beaman, Stacy Stoehr of Lincoln and Kelcey Stoehr of Des Moines; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Kaily, Shelly and Clay Stoehr; two nephews, Darryl (Peggy) Sherwood and Delmar Sherwood, both of Dike; a niece, Denise (John) Craig of Stout; and many cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and a sister, Arvilla Sherwood.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Fredsville Lutheran Church, with burial in Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Fredsville Lutheran Church or Salem Church, Lincoln.
