CEDAR FALLS - Earl Arthur Stark, 83, of Monticello, Minn., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Monticello of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Minneapolis, son of Arthur and Lillian Stark. He married Leona Kurpuis in 1954.

Earl served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by National Supermarkets as a store manager at several Twin Cities area stores and moved to Cedar Falls in 1983 as co-owner/operator of Deel's SuperValu until the store's closing in 2002. He moved to Monticello in 2005. Earl was always active in his church, serving as a lay leader and on numerous committees.

Survived by his wife, Leona; two daughters, Gwen (Don) Lawhead and Janet Magnuson; four sons, Michael (Jean), Gregory (Kathy), James (Dee), and Earl Jr.; a brother Thomas of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lorraine; and three brothers, Charles, Robert and John.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 449 W. Broadway St., Monticello, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to service, with private internment to be held at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids, Minn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

One of Earl's favorite things to do was spend time with his family. For years Earl and his family trekked to Long Lake in Wisconsin where they could enjoy time together.
