WATERLOO - Irene R. Kuhrt, 75, of 3217 Darlene Court, died Dec. 19, 2004, at Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner, following a brief illness.

She was born May 9, 1929, in Frederika, daughter of Henry and Mary Meier. She married Robert Kuhrt on June 14, 1949, and they later divorced.

Ms. Kuhrt attended Frederika High School, Frederika, and graduated from Wartburg College, Waverly, in 1949. She taught in country schools near Fredericksburg and Tripoli.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa (Paul) Hunstiger of Eagle River, Alaska; three grandchildren; and a brother, Everett (Crystal) Meier of Sumner.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille and Esther; and three brothers, Orville, Leslie and Lawrence Meier.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, with inurnment in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Tripoli.
