WATERLOO - Clarice J. "Charlie" Himes, 88, of Waterloo, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at her home.

She was born May 21, 1917, in Hendricks, Minn., daughter of Oliver and Lizzie Sverdahl Nelson. She married Edmund R. Himes on Dec. 30, 1939, at Trinity American Lutheran Church, Waterloo. He died March 18, 1971.

She graduated from East High School in 1935 and had been employed as a bookkeeper at the Music Corner for 33 years, retiring in 1987. She was an avid bowler for more than 50 years and was inducted into the Waterloo Womens Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2000.

Survived by a son, Jim of Waterloo; a daughter, Nancy (Larry) Boleyn of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Sheri Linn Himes, Jason Himes, Michael (Lisa) Boleyn, Douglas (Nadean) Boleyn and Lori (Oran) Ham; and seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Jacob and Jordan Boleyn, Hunter Holman, Sean Ham and Stephanie Ham.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Leo H. Nelson; and a sister, Verona B. Abbe.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity American Lutheran Church, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.
