Sarah Williams Gipe was born in Spring Creek township, Iowa. May 10, 1867; departed this life Nov. 26, 1929, in La Porte City, Iowa, age 62 years, 6 months and 16 days. The larger part of her life was spent in the township where she was born.
On Nov. 10, 1895, she was united in marriage to Marion W. Gipe. Two children were born to this union. Zoa and John Earle, both are still living.
About fifteen years ago her husband was called to try the realities of that eternal world.
Mrs. Gipe was remarkably converted in her home about twenty years ago, and through the passing years having their share of burden, sorrow and much physical suffering has kept her faith steadily fixed in the Christ she loved. Since the
death of her husband she has been a great sufferer from rheumatism.
A little over a month ago it became known that the end could be expected most any time. Her mind remained clear almost to the last. She told her attendants about her wish for funeral arrangements, made choice for the preaching of the funeral sermon, selected text to be used from Acts 4:12 and songs to be sung.
Very near the last of life for her here she mentioned that her time to go was close at hand and said she would be glad for the hour and minute. God's saints are victorious in death. She leaves to mourn her "home-going" her two children, Mrs. Ray Gnaggy and John Earle Gipe, both of Dysart, Iowa, two grand-children, one sister, Mrs. II, Van Winter of Keyport, Wash., one half sister, Ellen Williams, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and one half-brother, Geo. Williams, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted at Pleasant Hill church by Rev. Mrs A.P. Breneman, University Park, Iowa. She was laid to rest at Pleasant Hill cemetery immediately following the services.
