MRS A.D. SAWYER PASSES AWAY
DEATH COMES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS. FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON.
The home of Alonzo D. Sawyer, on the W.W. Little farm, north of this city, was saddened Tuesday morning when Mrs. Sawyer passed away at 11:30 o'clock following a four weeks illness of kidney disease. The deceased had lived a good share of her life in the community where she passed away, and her death will be mourned by all who knew her.
Sarah McCoun was born Jan. 13, 1867, in Spring Creek township, the daughter of Joseph and Mary McCoun, early settlers of Black Hawk County. When still a small child she moved with her parents to Cherokee county. She was married to Alonzo D. Sawyer, Oct. 7, 1884, at Washta, Iowa. Anne, a daughter died in infancy. There is left to mourn her untimely death, the husband and three children, Howard and Mrs. Myrtle Miller, of Waterloo, and Mrs. Mattie L. Gardner, of this place. Five brothers and two sisters also survive.
Funeral services were at 2:00 o'clock this afternoon at the Pleasant Hill church in Spring Creek township, conducted by Rev. D.W. Scott. Interment was made in the cemetery near the church.
