MRS. WILLIAM CLEMENTS
Mrs. Mary E., wife of William Clements, died at her home in Westfield addition at 1:15 yesterday morning, after an illness of five days, of pneumonia.
She would be 78 years old June 21, next, and was born in England. Her maiden name was Mary Eason and she was married in England to William Clements, who survives her, together with the following children: Wm. E., living in Black Hawk Township; Mary A. Vose, living in Waterloo; Charles H. and John J., of Waterloo, and George W., Thomas and Frank, at home.
The couple were members of the Methodist Episcopal Chruch in England, but they did not join here. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house and burial will be in Elmwood. Rev. C. H. Secombe will officiate.
Mr. and Mrs. Clements have been residents of this community for about 40 years, being among the oldest settlers. Before coming here they lived for a time at Cleveland, O.
A year ago last summer decedent and her husband, their niece, Miss Lillian Clements, and Miss Bertha Turner, paid a visit to the old home, but they did not like the place so well as they thought they would and so did not stay long. Mrs. Clements also leaves two sisters, Betsy Butler and Hannah Williams, and a brother, James E. Eason, all living in England.
