DIES IN ILLINOIS

A. F. Townsend, Former Resident of Waterloo Dies Feb. 13.

Word was received in this city today of the death of A. F. Townsend, a former resident of Waterloo, mention of whose illness was made several days ago.

Mr. Townsend expired in a hospital at East St. Louis, Ill., February 13, after a protracted illness.

To older residents of Waterloo, Mr. Townsend was widely known. He resided here about twenty years ago, being engaged in the grain business for a time and afterwards being honored by the voters of the county by the election to the office of county superintendent of schools, a position which he filled with satisfaction to all and honor to himself.

For a number of years past he has been engaged in the insurance business.
