GILBERTVILLE - Robert "Bob" Paul Weber, 72, of 2125 Parkview Drive, died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, Waterloo.
He was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Waterloo, son of Paul and Bernadette Schares Weber. He married Mary Becker on Feb. 14, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville.
Mr. Weber was a farmer for 45 years, retiring in March 1999. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1954, during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. He was past commander of American Legion Nugent Demuth Post 714 of Gilbertville and was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus Council 700. He was involved in his parish, the Gilbertville community and enjoyed attending all of his grandchildrens events.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Margie (Steve) Hammer of Maplewood, Minn., Patricia Smith of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Beth (Ken) Kasper of Forest City; three sons, Mike (Barb) of Robins, Bill (Shelly) of rural La Porte City, Curt (Stephanie) of Gilbertville; 16 grandchildren; and a brother, Vincent of rural Jesup.
Preceded in death by a son, Joseph David; and an infant brother, Richard.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Marys Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Nugent Demuth Post 714 of Gilbertville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Visitation also 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 3 p.m. Catholic Order of Foresters rosary and 7 p.m. parish rosary, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Bosco System, the church or charity of donors choice in lieu of flowers.
