WATERLOO - Irene Emma Ambrose, 81, of Waterloo died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at her home of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Marquette, daughter of Frank and Emma Havlicek Lestina. She married Andrew Ambrose in 1947 in Dubuque. He died in June 1990.

She worked at the turkey factory in Postville and did house cleaning for area families. She also was a homemaker and worked at Santa Claus Industries.

Survived by five sons, Lee (Mandy) of Graston, Minn., David of Golden, Colo., Steven and Scott, both of Waterloo, and Andy of DuPont, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and five sisters, Helen Stickford of Garnavillo, Donna Mae Martie of Monona and Marcella Lenth, June Looney and Loretta Tesar, all of Prairie DuChien, Wis.

Preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Thomas, Jimmy and Charlie Lestina; a sister in infancy; and two grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Mulberry, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
